The Crypt Arts Centre is the premier studio theatre space in Dublin. It provides a support structure for the best new performers, directors, designers and writers, creating a mixed and compelling programme of classic scripts and new plays, in a variety of styles.

The Crypt has facilitated and developed the work of young and emerging performers, directors, designers, writers and companies by providing them with information, support and resources to ensure that their creative vision is realised to as high a level as possible and that their work receives the critical and public attention it deserves.

The Crypt is the brain child of ÍOMHÁ ILDÁNACH Theatre Company and the Office of Public Works at Dublin Castle. It opened its doors in 1994 with the sell-out production of the cult classic, SINGLE WHITE MALE, a riotously funny examination of the myth of the Celtic Tiger which put the venue firmly on the map.

Since then the Crypt has presented more than 90 shows, to an ever increasing audience. The Crypt is the place to catch the next wave – it’s also, more importantly, the place to catch some of the best theatre in Dublin.
